Protective Behaviours

What is Protective Behaviours?

Protective Behaviours is a safety awareness and resilience building program which helps children to recognise any situation where they feel worried or unsafe. Our teaching is based on two key messages:

1 - We all have the right to feel safe all of the time

2 - We can talk with someone about anything, even if it feels awful or small.

At Hillmead we deliver this throughout the school in whole class lessons, during PSHE time and also through personalised 1:1 sessions with one of our 8 Protective Behaviour trained members of staff.

Each class spend time considering our hand network so we know who we can talk to if we have a worry:

Sand therapy is often part of our 1:1 Protective Behaviours sessions:
